Project Description

Sant Martí de
Terrassola, s. XI

Sant Martí church is on top of a spur over the Rialb river, near its junction with Fabregada ravine, a short distance from the house of Terrassola. It is located about 40m over the river, bout 4km from the second fish farm.

This church was throughout the Middle Ages the religious center of the Rialb upper valley called in the medieval documents “Tarabau valley”. Despite the present state of ruin and abandonment of the church, seems clear that the building was constructed in two phases. This building was restored in the eleventh century according to the evolved forms of Lombard architecture. You can see how the church of Sant Martí follows a constructive evolution very similar to the church of Sant Sebastià de Cerdanyés.
